Dear Friend of Diversity:

As we enter this season of giving and reflect on the events of the past year, the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force wishes to take this time to thank you for your gracious and essential support. We are especially thankful for your support of the Task Force's objectives to educate, organize, provide support, and monitor issues in the human rights arena. As a grass roots group we remain committed to protecting and promoting human rights in Whatcom County, and your annual dues and giving form the foundation of our budget.

Your generous support this past year contributed to the following activities:
• The Whatcom Civil Rights Project (see article on page 3)
• Unlearning Racism workshops, along with the development of a team of trainers preparing to offer a variety of workshops in the community
• Fifth Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Conference
• Seventh Annual Human Rights Awards Banquet
• Human Rights Book Discussion Group that meets monthly (see article on page 3)

In the coming year, your support will help the task force realize the following:
• Continued collaboration on the Whatcom Civil Rights Project
• Sixth Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Conference (see article on page 1)
• Eighth Annual Human Rights Awards Banquet
• Expanded Unlearning Racism/Unpacking White Privilege workshops to be offered to more community agencies and organizations.
• Diversity in Schools trainings
• Allies Network
• Continued grant writing

Communities everywhere need organizations like the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force to defend the rights of individuals and groups who are marginalized, and to be watchful for the erosion of human rights. Please assist us in our collective pursuit of educating our community toward acceptance and celebration of our growing diversity. Your financial contribution means the world to us, and it plays an integral part in our success.

Thank you,

Lisa Fox, WHRTF Chair
