June 27th, Thursday 7pm

Amensty International Group 270 and the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force present an award winning film ‘No Man's Land’ as part of our monthly film and discussion series, Joining Worlds.

Our June showing takes place at the Whatcom Educational Credit Union Education Center, 511 E. Holly St., Bellingham.

"No Man's Land"
dramatizing the war in Bosnia/Herzegovina.
Susan Kroll, a Bellingham resident who served as a democratization and civil society project consultant to the O.S.C.E and WorldVision in Bosnia and Albania from 1996 to 2000 will lead a slide presentation and discussion following the film.

'No Man's Land' won the 2001 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
"Ciki, a Bosnian soldier, and Nino, a Serb, find themselves trapped together in a mined trench between enemy lines. As the two men argue over politics and attempt to outwit each other, Ciki's companion, Cera, lies wounded on a landmine that will explode if he is moved."

This is an opportunity for our community share in a lively discussion concerning groundbreaking documentary and fiction films. Joining Worlds film series addresses racism and television, African-American history, the theft and appropriation of Native American culture, and other important topics relevant to this region. The theme, Joining Worlds, allows us to explore the interconnections among different forms of oppression, and recognize our places in history.
