FILM SERIES RETURNS !
April 18,
Thursday 7pm
Whatcom Human Rights Task Force hosts the second annual human rights film series with the theme - Joining Worlds.

A free showing of our first film in the series takes place at the Fairhaven Library in the Fireplace Room. Snacks will be provided.

"The Vienna Tribunal"
followed by discussion

This film entails personal stories of women from around the world who testified at the Global Tribunal on Violations of Women's Rights at the 2nd United Nations World Conference on Human Rights. This film dramatically captures the abuses women suffer throughout the world and touches on the need for human rights groups to address feminist issues.

Whatcom Human Rights Task Force presents "The Vienna Tribunal" as part of our monthly film and discussion series, Joining Worlds. This is an opportunity for our community to take in groundbreaking documentary and fiction films, and share in a lively discussion. Films in this series address racism and television, African-American history, the theft and appropriation of Native American culture, as well as other important topics relevant to this region.

The theme, Joining Worlds, directly addresses our desire to explore the interconnections among different forms of oppression, and recognize our places in history.

All following films are scheduled for the last Thursday of each month. Those dates are May 30th, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th, and September 26th.

FILM SERIES CALL FOR RESOURCES
* * TV or VCR - The series will be held in the Fireplace Room at the Fairhaven Library this year, a wonderful venue lacking in just one way: no TV or VCR! As these are important components to video watching, we are hoping that someone will be able to offer their entertainment system for the films each month.
* * Co-sponsors, funders, and volunteers for the events

Times: 7pm - 9pm
NEW Location: Fairhaven Public Library, Fireplace Room
For more information, Please call
Rebecca Treinen or Robin Elwood, WHRTF Office Manager, at 733-2233.
